Air Force names SI Internation for missile defense contract

RESTON, Va., 26 Jan. 2006. SI International, Inc. today announced that it has been awarded a contract by the Air Force Space Command to provide systems engineering and technical analysis supporting the development of operating concepts for future Ballistic Missile Defense (BMD) systems.

RESTON, Va., 26 Jan. 2006. SI International, Inc. today announced that it has been awarded a contract by the Air Force Space Command to provide systems engineering and technical analysis supporting the development of operating concepts for future Ballistic Missile Defense (BMD) systems.

The contract was awarded under the Contract Advisory and Assistance Services and Engineering and Technical Assistance (CAASETA) contract vehicle, and has a one-year base period with a one-year option. The contract's value is $4 million over two years, if all options are exercised.

SI International will provide pre-systems acquisition planning, problem resolution, software development, and associated systems engineering support tasks necessary to develop, produce, deploy, operate, maintain security, and test and evaluate BMD system elements and components.

Additionally, the company will provide life-cycle engineering and technical support for current BMD programs and projects including Ground-Based Missile Defense (GMD), Upgraded Early Warning Radars (UEWR), Space Base Infrared Systems (SBIRS), Vandenberg AFC, and the Command and Control Battle Management and Communications (C2BMD) System.

SI International's work under this contract will be performed at Headquarters Air Force Space Command (AFSPC) and at SI International's facilities in Colorado Springs, Colo.

For more than 12 years, SI International has served as a technical support contractor for the military space community, which includes Air Force Space Command (AFSPC), North American Aerospace Defense Command (NORAD), and United States Strategic Command (USSTRATCOM). In addition, SI International has supported the Spacelift Range Systems, Range Standardization and Automation, Military Satellite Communications (Milsatcom) systems, and the Air Force Satellite Control Network since 1996.
