Industry OEMs dedicate resources to future development and integration of RapidIO fabric interconnect architecture and networking standard

AUSTIN, Texas, 20 September 2006. Major industry players took part in the RapidIO Trade Association Steering Committee's annual meeting, at which members and officers were re-elected. The members reaffirmed their commitment to driving the future development of the standard and to working with customers as RapidIO products are integrated in next-generation designs. Every company on the committee is dedicating experts to guide the direction of the global standard throughout 2007.

AUSTIN, Texas, 20 September 2006. Major industry players took part in the RapidIO Trade Association Steering Committee's annual meeting, at which members and officers were re-elected. The members reaffirmed their commitment to driving the future development of the standard and to working with customers as RapidIO products are integrated in next-generation designs. Every company serving on the association's Steering Committee in 2006 is dedicating experts to guide the direction of the global standard throughout 2007.

Elected officers include:

- Chair Dave Wickliff from Lucent Technologies

- Vice-Chair Peter Olanders from Ericsson

- Treasurer Greg Shippen from Freescale Semiconductor

Steering Committee members include:

- Victor Menasce, AMCC

- Michael Shulman, EMC

- Craig Lund, Mercury Computer

- Robert Chow, PMC-Sierra

- Alan Gatherer, Texas Instruments

- Richard O'Connor, Tundra Semiconductor

- Ed Marks, Wind River

In addition, Travis Scheckel from Texas Instruments will continue to Chair the Technical Working Group and Bill Beane from Integrated Device Technology will continue as Chair of the Marketing Working Group.

RapidIO technology is a scalable, packet-switched, high-performance fabric developed to address the needs of equipment designers in the wireless infrastructure, edge networking, storage, scientific, military, and industrial markets.

The RapidIO Trade Association and its global members drive the RapidIO interconnect architecture. The ISO-certified, open-standard enables the chip-to-chip, board-to-board, control, backplane, and data plane interconnections needed in networking, communications, and embedded systems.
