Extended-temperature embedded computing module introduced by MEN Micro

AMBLER, Pa., 10 March 2010. MEN Micro Inc. in Ambler, Pa., is introducing the upgraded XM1L embedded computing module for rugged applications in industrial, mobile, and mission-critical environments.

AMBLER, Pa., 10 March 2010. MEN Micro Inc. in Ambler, Pa., is introducing the upgraded XM1L embedded computing module for rugged applications in industrial, mobile, and mission-critical environments.

The XM1L ESMexpress computer on module (COM) has the Intel Atom XL processor, operates in extended temperatures from -40 to 85 degrees Celsius, and is for conduction-cooled and convection-cooled environments.

The embedded computer module has a memory capacity of 2 gigabytes, and conforms to the ANSI-VITA 59 RSE standard in development. The module also supports USB Flash memory on the carrier board and 512 kilobytes of L2 cache integrated into the processor.

Interfaces can include a combination of PCI Express links, LVDS, SDVO, high-definition audio, SATA, Ethernet with Wake-on-LAN functionality, and USB. A board management controller monitors all board functions. The XM1L can also be plugged onto COM Express carrier boards (basic form factor type 2) via the adapter board AE12.
