6U VME rugged computer board with Freescale PowerQUICC III introduced by Curtiss-Wright for military applications

SANTA CLARITA, Calif., 30 Sept. 2010. Curtiss-Wright Controls Electronic Systems in Santa Clarita, Calif., is introducing the G4V-VME Viper 6U VMEsingle board computer for deployed military applications. The rugged VME64x CPU board is designed for safety-critical applications, and features the Freescale processor MPC8548E PowerQUICC III.
Available in air- and conduction-cooled versions, the Viper is use as an application-specific compute blade or as an intelligent I/O blade. The CPU board typically uses 16 Watts of power, and supports two independent PMC sites that are as fast as 66 MHz. I/O includes Gigabit Ethernet, six UART serial ports, six HDLC/SDLC 12.5-megabit-per-second serial ports, dual MIL-STD-1553, and TTL DIO.
The air-cooled version of the embedded computingboard product operates in temperatures from -40 to 71 degrees Celsius, and the conduction-cooled version operates in temperatures from -40 to 85 C. Software operating system support for the Viper includes Wind River VxWorks 6.4 and VxWorks 653.
