MIL-STD-1553 avionics databus test and simulation cards offered by DDC in PMC, PCI, CompactPCI/PXI, and PCI Express

BOHEMIA, N.Y., 7 Oct. 2010. Data Device Corp. (DDC) in Bohemia, N.Y., is introducing the BU-672 series of PCI Mezzanine Card (PMC), PCI, CompactPCI/PXI, and PCI Express MIL-STD-1553 cards designed around DDC's next generation AceXtreme 1553 core, for avionics databus test and simulation. The BU-672 series adds multi-function capability that enables a 1553 bus controller (BC), as many as 31 remote terminals (RT), and bus monitor (MT) to run concurrently per channel. The cards are available with as many as four dual-redundant 1553 channels.

The AceXtreme Multi-Function series also includes a test and simulation toolkit that delivers hardware and software utilities. Enhanced test features include reconstruction (replay) mode that enables users to record 1553 data and replay it onto the bus in real-time; error injection; variable amplitude (PCI-Express only); and low inter-message gap support for out-of-bounds responses.

These cards use a common API for test and embedded cards and components; software developed can be reused in all other applications without software programming. DDC's BusTrACEr software's one-click application code generation enables software development in minutes rather than months, company officials say.

The DDC dataSIMS bus analysis and simulation software package can help create an environment of simulation, acquisition, display, and storage of real-time data. dataSIMS simulates and concurrently monitors several mixed MIL-STD-1553 and ARINC 429 data streams, and has the ability to bring in other I/O.

Interface control document (ICD) databases that describe avionics messages can be imported into dataSIMS projects and used to create custom engineering-unit conversions and simulated data based on specific events. A LabVIEW support package is also available with virtual instruments and samples. For more information contact DDC online at www.ddc-web.com.
