VAN NUYS, Calif., 15 Aug. 2007. Industrial Electronic Engineers Inc. (IEE) in Van Nuys, Calif., is providing more than 4,100 remote control units to EDO Corp. in New York for vehicle mounted electronic jamming devices that counter radio-controlled improvised explosive devices (IEDs).
The remote control units are for EDO's Counter RCIED (Radio Controlled Improvised Explosive Device) Electronic Warfare system, otherwise known as CREW 2.1. IEE will make deliveries to EDO through the end of 2007.
The CREW 2.1 systems are part of the U.S. Department of Defense Joint Improvised Explosive Device Defeat Organization (JIEDDO).
"Variations of the IEE commercial-off-the-shelf (COTS) control display unit have been an invaluable part of military systems for over 20 years," says Steven White, vice president and general manager of IEE. "IEE is extremely proud that this device is now a part of the EDO system which will counter one of the biggest threats facing our troops in the field."
