EL SEGUNDO, Calif., 14 Jan. 2007. Aura Systems Inc. has announced the first delivery by Kvichak Marine Industries of a new configuration of its AuraGen power system for a 93-foot hovercraft boat delivered to King Cove Alaska for emergency marine services.

The hovercraft, named the Suna-X, features a 24,000 Watt power system based on the use of three 8kW AuraGens per ship. The ship, designed by Hoverworks (UK), is the first of a series of deliveries of this design whose main functions are rapid medical evacuations, and cargo and passenger transport in environmentally sensitive areas.

Aura has worked with Kvichak on several programs, including the recently announced award of the production contract in conjunction with Marinette Marine for the new 44-foot Coast Guard Response Boat – Medium Fleet that will use on the order of 400 heavy duty AuraGen VIPERs.

Melvin Gagerman, Aura's CEO, says, "We are pleased that the work that we had pioneered with the help of the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration and Military customers has proven successful in supporting maritime requirements for electric power, at the same time saving valuable space and weight in the engine compartment, freeing up deck space otherwise used by gensets and eliminating all scheduled maintenance."

The AuraGen is also used as a land-based vehicle mobile power source in both military and industrial sectors. AuraGens have been deployed in combat service support in both Iraq and Afghanistan operations. Industrial uses of the AuraGen include Telecommunications, Oil and Gas, Emergency Services, Municipal and State Government services, amongst others.
