FREMONT, Calif., 18 Jan. 2007. Themis Computer announced its collaboration with Terra Soft Solutions to deliver a complete Linux distribution for the TPPC64, Themis' first release in a new family of 6U VMEbus single-board computers based on the IBM PowerPC 970FX superscalar RISC processor.

"Early in our PPC 970 development program, Themis turned to Terra Soft and its Yellow Dog Linux, for prototype support software," says William E. Kehret, president of Themis Computer. "As Themis moved into production with the TPPC64, we asked Terra Soft for the most current Linux OS available and we can now offer our users Yellow Dog Linux v5.0 -- based on the Fedora Core 5 foundation."

Two TPPC64 configurations are available: a single processor single slot computer and a dual-processor, symmetric multiprocessing, two-slot solution.

The PowerPC 970FX processor provides maximum performance for existing 32-bit applications and new 64-bit applications. The 1.8GHz TPPC64, in a single-slot configuration, can be configured with up to 4GBytes of DDR400 memory and includes dual Gigabit Ethernet ports and features dual Ultra320 SCSI interfaces.

The single-processor TPPC64 also includes six USB ports, AC'97 audio, and four serial ports. A second processor may be added, in a second VME slot, communicating with the baseboard via a coherent Hyper-transport link and adds a 64-bit 133MHz PMC slot.
