The SX9310 is a smart sensor that enables smart phone and tablet manufacturers to help protect users from potentially harmful RF exposure.

The Semtech SX9310 SAR proximity sensor regulates RF exposure to reduce specific absorption rate (SAR) -- the measure of RF power that is radiated into the human body when in close proximity to a connected device.

The device has an on-chip smart engine designed for human detection and advanced SAR control. The device offers as many as three channels of capacitive sensing inputs, low temperature drift for stable measurement, and a combined proximity mode to help minimize the sensing area.

The SX9310 smart sensor features low power consumption and operates from a 2.7/5.5-volt input. The device's built-in I²C serial communication bus port is compatible with the 1.8-volt host control to help report body detection and proximity and to facilitate parameter setting adjustments.

Semtech's SX9310 SAR proximity sensor is optimized to meet emission regulations criteria and SAR safety standards for a wide range of consumer electronics applications, including smartphones, wearables, tablets, notebooks, and mobile hotspots.
