VITA 93 specification ensures compatibility between compliant modules and carriers to encourage a broad ecosystem of solutions from many vendors.

WIXOM, Mich. – Acromag Inc. in Wixom, Mich., is introducing the QMC series VITA 93 QMC mezzanine modules for small-form-factor embedded computing systems in aerospace, defense, industrial automation, transportation, and scientific research applications.

The rugged family of high-density I/O boards offer reliable signal processing and a variety of I/O functions and a carrier card.

The VITA 93 mezzanine specifies two 80-pin connectors for separate host and I/O interfaces on a 26-by-78.25-millimeter single-width QMC module. The host connector can support PCI Express Gen 4 x4 interfaces, while the I/O connector provides as many as 20 differential or 40 single-ended signals arranged in five IOPipes.

Mount to 3U and 6U boards

QMC I/O boards can mount on 3U/6U Eurocards like VPX and CompactPCI-Serial, PCI Express expansion cards, or small form factors such as VNX+ and custom embedded PCs. The VITA 93 specification ensures compatibility between compliant modules and carriers to encourage a broad ecosystem of solutions from many vendors.

Conduction-cooled systems are supported by adding a standardized, skyline heat sink to modules. An intelligent platform management interface (IPMI) allows smart carrier cards to read module information and sensor data from EEPROM over an I2C interface.

Software support includes VxWorks, Windows, and Linux operating systems. The API provides a library of function routines as a starting point developers can use for their customized programs. For more information contact Acromag online at www.acromag.com.
