AMOLED displays with color and temperature sensing for aerospace and defense uses introduced by Tianma

June 17, 2025
Ambient light and color temperature sensors monitor lighting conditions to adjust parameters dynamically for optimal visual comfort in real time.

Summary points:

  • Multifunction AMOLED displays integrate fingerprint recognition, ambient light, temperature sensing, and OLED monitoring into one panel for real-time imaging.
  • Switchable privacy display enables users to toggle between public and private viewing modes using pixel-level AMOLED technology.
  • New fluorescent blue and PSF green technology can approach maximum internal quantum efficiency for high-performance visual output.

TROY, Mich. – Tianma America Inc. in Troy, Mich., is introducing three active-matrix organic light emitting diode (AMOLED) displays for aerospace, defense, and industrial applications.

The 6.51-inch hybrid optoelectronic integration (HOI) three-in-one photosensitive functional screen has Tianma's self-developed HOI technology with three essential functions: fingerprint recognition, ambient light, color and temperature sensing, and OLED emitter monitoring.

The displays offer large sensing areas, fast recognition speed, and integrated ambient light and color temperature sensor that continuously monitors environmental lighting conditions to adjust parameters dynamically for optimal visual comfort in real time. It tracks brightness data and leverages intelligent compensation algorithms to ensure consistently high display performance.

Privacy display technology

6.67-inch switchable privacy display is based on Tianma's switchable privacy display technology that enables independent switching between share and privacy display modes.

The process is built into the AMOLED construction using a black matrix in the pixel definition layer (PDL), combined with a structure at the subpixel level. In share mode, it offers clear and bright picture quality and wide viewing angle. When switched to privacy mode, the viewing angle narrows for privacy.

6.78-inch AMOLED display uses a new fluorescent blue (NFB), and a Phosphor-Sensitized Fluorescent (PSF) green AMOLED to achieve an internal quantum efficiency (IQE) approaching the theoretical limit.
