- Elma Electronic unveils LFT VITA 48.4 chassis for rapid prototyping for as many as six 6U OpenVPX plug-in cards at 200+ Watts power density.
- Supports mission-critical aerospace and defense applications like sensor payloads, EW, C2, navigation, and target tracking.
- Integrated liquid cooling and high-speed backplane provide 10-gigabit-per-second data throughput, power distribution, and thermal management.
FREMONT, Calif. – Elma Electronic Inc. in Fremont, Calif., is introducing the Liquid Flow Through (LFT) VITA 48.4 modular test and development chassis for rapid prototyping and testing of as many as six 6U OpenVPX embedded computing plug-in cards with power densities of 200 Watts or more.
The self-contained test and measurement system is for proof-of-concept testing of mission-critical aerospace and defense applications like sensor payloads, electronic warfare (EW), command and control, navigation systems, and target tracking.
The system's power and ground backplane ensures dependable power and signal routing across all six plug-in card slots via the utility plane. Its 10-gigabit-per-second data rate helps the system keep pace with high-throughput applications.
Tell me more about 6U OpenVPX plug-in cards ...
- A 6U OpenVPX plug-in card is a standardized electronic module for high-performance embedded computing (HPEC), defense, aerospace, and rugged industrial systems. OpenVPX defines electrical, mechanical, and system-level profiles to ensure interoperability between vendors, and supports high-speed serial fabrics like PCI Express, Ethernet, InfiniBand, and RapidIO instead of legacy parallel buses like VME. Applications include radar and electronic warfare (EW) processing; signals intelligence (SIGINT); communications; mission computers in aircraft, ships, and ground vehicles; and artificial intelligence (AI) accelerators for sensor fusion and machine autonomy.
The design and development system facilitates access to the plug-in cards via the open side frame design. Support for rear transition I/O across all slots ensures rapid system configuration for benchtop test and debugging.
Designed for high-performance thermal management through integrated liquid cooling channels, the system works in liquid-cooled test environments and with liquid-flow-through plug-in cards from major manufacturers. An external coolant distribution unit is necessary to operate the liquid-flow-through cooling.
The unit comes with an internal 1400-Watt power supply and the internal VITA 46.11 chassis manager monitors voltages and temperature status. Customization options are available.
