Aitech introduces U-C8600 and U-C8601 rugged AI-enabled single board computers
CHATSWORTH, Calif. - Aitech in Chatsworth, Calif., has introduced two new rugged single board computers designed for defense and aerospace applications, expanding its artificial intelligence-enabled embedded computing portfolio with the U-C8600 and U-C8601.
The new boards are built on Intel's 14th-generation Core Ultra architecture and integrate a hybrid multi-core x86 central processing unit, graphics processing unit, and neural processing unit to support real-time artificial intelligence at the tactical edge. Aitech said the platforms deliver approximately 2.5 times CPU performance and 2 times GPU performance compared to their predecessor, the U-C850X.
The U-C8600 and U-C8601 are designed to support high-performance artificial intelligence and machine learning workloads in rugged environments, combining compute acceleration, high-speed networking, and embedded security features. The company said the systems are intended for missions where low-latency processing and onboard decision-making are critical.
The U-C8600 is optimized for input/output-intensive workloads, while the U-C8601 is configured for compute-intensive applications. Both are SOSA-aligned and designed for size, weight, power, and cost efficiency, supporting integration into modular open systems architectures used in defense electronics.
The boards support high-speed connectivity, including 40 gigabit Ethernet and PCIe Gen4 interfaces, along with large memory configurations and embedded security capabilities. Aitech said the architecture is intended to support faster data movement between sensors, processors, and mission applications in airborne, ground, and space systems.
