Silicon Designs Releases Full Line of MEMS DC Accelerometers and JCC/LCC Chips for Aerospace Applications

May 2, 2025

For Immediate Release - Kirkland, WA, USA – Silicon Designs, Inc., a prominent U.S.-based manufacturer of rugged, high-performance MEMS DC accelerometers, today announced the continued availability and aerospace-ready performance of its Model 2220 and 2240 Series single-axis MEMS DC accelerometer modules. Designed specifically for aerospace environments, these modules are trusted for their exceptional stability, accuracy, and reliability in vibration, shock, and structural monitoring.

Both the Model 2220 and Model 2240 Series are engineered to support critical flight test and airborne measurement requirements, including aircraft vibration analysis, flutter and flight testing, and NVH (Noise, Vibration, and Harshness) evaluations. These modules deliver precise measurements across both AC and DC acceleration ranges, with robust performance across an extended operating temperature range of -55°C to +125°C. Powered from a flexible input of +8 to +32 VDC, each model provides a buffered ±4V differential output and an optional 0.5V to 4.5V single-ended output, backed by an internal voltage regulator and reference.

  • The Model 2220 features a compact, anodized aluminum housing with a fully integrated cable, designed for reliable mounting in high-vibration conditions.
  • The Model 2240 is housed in a hermetically sealed titanium case and includes a detachable plug-and-cable interface for ruggedized and modular aerospace system integration.

Both models are available in standard full-scale acceleration ranges of ±2 g to ±400 g, making them ideal for:

  • Flutter testing and flight qualification
  • Structural analysis of payloads and radome-mounted subsystems
  • Shock and vibration monitoring on landing gear or external pods
  • General purpose aerospace system performance evaluation

Each unit weighs approximately 10 grams, features a four-wire low-impedance output configuration, and can transmit accurate measurement signals up to 2,000 feet without degradation.

All Silicon Designs MEMS DC accelerometers undergo extensive in-house testing, calibration, and environmental verification at the company’s ISO9001:2015-certified headquarters near Seattle, Washington. Every sensor is fully serialized and supplied with detailed calibration data to ensure traceability and dependable performance.

About Silicon Designs, Inc.

Established in 1983, Silicon Designs set out to transform the landscape of MEMS DC accelerometer design. At the time, conventional sensors were cumbersome, fragile, and costly. By closely listening to customer needs, the company developed compact, durable, high-performance accelerometers that were more affordable and reliable. Over the decades, Silicon Designs has consistently grown while remaining focused on accelerometer innovation. Its design philosophy “make it better, stronger, smaller, and less expensive” continues to guide its product development, with R&D initiatives heavily shaped by client feedback.
