Silicon Designs Low-Voltage MEMS Accelerometer Line Features Models 2012, 2422, and 2422H

May 2, 2025

For Immediate Release - Kirkland, WA, USA – Silicon Designs, Inc., a 100% U.S.-based, veteran-owned designer and manufacturer of precision MEMS DC accelerometers, today announced the continued availability of its low-voltage accelerometer module family, featuring the Model 2012 (1-axis), Model 2422 (3-axis), and Model 2422H (hermetic 3-axis). These rugged, compact modules are ideal for precision acceleration and vibration measurement in applications where power is limited to a regulated +5 VDC supply.

All three models share identical performance specifications and are built around Silicon Designs’ ultra-low-noise MEMS DC accelerometer technology, designed for zero-to-medium frequency testing environments. Available in full-scale ranges from ±2 g to ±400 g, they offer:

  • Low noise: 10 μg/√Hz typical (±2 g)
  • Buffered ±4V differential or 0.5V to 4.5V single-ended output
  • Wide operating range: -55°C to +125°C
  • Internal voltage reference and regulation
  • Excellent long-term bias and scale factor stability
  • Fully calibrated and serialized for traceability

The Model 2012 (1-axis) and Model 2422 (3-axis) are housed in epoxy-sealed, anodized aluminum enclosures with an integrated 3-foot shielded cable, making them easy to mount and integrate in both portable and fixed setups. The Model 2422H features a hermetically sealed titanium case, connector interface, and IP67-rated protection, making it ideal for use in more demanding environments with high humidity, dust, or exposure to the elements. When sealed with a boot or heat shrink, the connector also meets IP67 standards.

Each 2422H unit includes an initial calibration report, verifying linearity, frequency response, and output characteristics of all three axes. Internally, the 2422H uses three premium SDI Model 1522 accelerometer chips with enhanced thermal compensation, providing exceptional stability in thermally dynamic conditions.

These accelerometers are widely used in:

  • Vibration and shock testing
  • Structural health monitoring
  • Transportation R&D
  • Aerospace, automotive, and industrial diagnostics
  • Test systems with +5 VDC-only power budgets

All Silicon Designs modules are designed, built, tested, and calibrated in-house at the company’s ISO9001:2015-certified facility near Seattle, Washington.
