Engineers at Alenia Marconi Systems, Integrated Systems division in Hilland, Scotland, are using the Scenario Toolkit and Generation Environment (STAGE) 3.0 software from Virtual Prototypes in Montreal to build interactive tactical training scenarios.

STAGE is a flexible development framework that Alenia Marconi experts will use to develop aerospace and defense simulation and training scenarios for Alenia Marconi`s clients, including the United Kingdom Government.

"Virtual Prototypes` STAGE provides the best solution for creating virtual training scenarios for our broad range of customers," says Robin Farnan, sales director for Alenia Marconi. "Another Marconi Electronic Systems Company, Marconi Avionics, has already used Virtual Prototypes` products with great success, so this encouraged us to use STAGE."

STAGE 3.0 expedites the construction of complex simulation systems and enables users to define interactive tactical scenarios graphically. It is commercially available as an off-the-shelf product and is designed for user extendibility and integration, Virtual Prototypes officials say.

STAGE 3.0 includes a Snapshot/Restore capability that enables users to save the current state of a running exercise and restore it later. — J.M.
