DOD to buy smart-card system from Litronic

Officials of the U.S. Department of Defense Financial Management Service (DFAS) are spending $500,000 for a smart card-based digital signature system from Litronic Inc. of Irvine, Calif. Litronic will install its government-validated security system into the DFAS Defense Joint Accounting System for more than 1,400 new users of security government procurement and electronic commerce applications. DFAS communicates with all of the government`s suppliers to conduct commerce. The Litronic system is based on dual-control digital signatures to authenticate, authorize, and generate documents.
