Raytheon wins U.K. Identification Friend or Foe program

Raytheon Co. of Lexington, Mass., is the preferred supplier of Identification Friend or Foe (IFF) systems for the Matra British Aerospace (BAe) Rapier air defense system. This is part of the U.K. Ministry of Defence`s Successor IFF (SIFF) program. SIFF is to modernize the British Ministry of Defence`s land, sea, and air platforms with advanced Mark XII/Mode S compatible IFF systems. Raytheon also is supplying IFF equipment for the Royal Air Force ADV F3 Tornado aircraft and is completing SIFF system requirements for the Rapier Field Standard "C" air-defense missile. These upgrades include interrogators, transponders, test equipment, cryptographic computers, control panels, and logistics support. — J.K.
