Flat-panel display experts at DuPont of Wilmington, Del., and Cambridge Display Technology (CDT) of Cambridge, England, are working together to bring light-emitting polymer (LEP) technology from CDT into commercial use in flexible displays. Officials of the companies, working under terms of a two-year agreement, intend to bring the thin, flexible LEP display to market on a commercial scale along with other products based on CDT`s technology, company officials say. Company experts plan to supply plastic substrates coated with LEP material to electronics manufacturers in large volumes within three years. Customers are expected to build flexible displays into infantry-fitted displays for the digital battlefield, as well as for VCRs, CD players, mobile phones, light signs, and alarm clocks.
