Engineers at UTMC Microelectronic Systems Inc. in Colorado Springs, Colo., are adding a multipurpose digital transceiver for space applications to their RadHard MSI logic family called the UT54ACS16245S. This device features cold sparing, voltage translation, basic transceiver functionality slew rate control, and Schmitt trigger inputs. Target applications are satellite avionics payloads and launch vehicles. The 0.6-micron device, which withstands ionizing doses of 100 kilorads of radiation and is immune to single-event upset and induced latchup, operates over the military temperature range of -55 degrees Celsius to 125 C.
