Raytheon Missile Systems in Tucson, Ariz., was charged with the task of finding the optimal antenna assembly for a current project, the Standard Missile-6 Extended Range Active Missile (SM-6 ERAM) program.
Company designers selected the Integral Antenna Assembly from Tecom Industries Inc. in Thousand Oaks, Calif., to infuse the SM-6 with flight termination, telemetry, and beacon functionality. The SM-6 ERAM, now in the system development and demonstration phase, is an extended-range, anti-aircraft missile that takes advantage of the Standard Missile airframe and the seeker technology of Raytheon’s advanced medium-range air-to-air missile.
To be deployed on destroyer and cruiser combatants, the new weapon will be designed to support the DD(X) Fire Control System and networked fire-control data provided by the Navy’s Cooperative Engagement Capability (CEC).
