IDD develops new lighting system for electronics

Sept. 1, 1997
Designers at IDD Aerospace Corp. in Redmond, Wash., developed a new way of illuminating flight deck displays and keyboards that is a direct replacement for incandescent aviation white or blue white illumination, based on new developments in single-chip white light-emitting diodes (LEDs). Performance ranges from 1,900 degrees Kelvin to 6,800 degrees Kelvin for comparable dimming characteristics. LED illumination provides for long life, low power consumption, and cool touch temperatures. For more
