The computer has a lightweight aluminum housing, shock-mounted display and drives, and sealed keyboard. Available are 10.4-inch color active matrix flat-panel displays with 640-by-480-pixel resolution, or lower-cost monochrome sunlight-readable flat panel displays. Guardian uses a passive backplane design with a single-board computer with Intel Pentium microprocessors as fast as 200 MHz. A 12/24/48-volt DC input power supply and battery back are options.
