SPRINGFIELD, Va., 8 August 2005. VERSAR, Inc. announced today the award of a five-year contract supporting the Joint Service Chemical Agent Testing Program, through the U.S. Marine Corps, Marine Corps Logistics Command, Albany, Ga.
The contract, initially valued at $6.9 million, will support the deployment and use of nuclear, biological and chemical defense protective clothing and equipment by the U.S. Department of Defense. The contract will be performed by Versar's wholly owned subsidiary, GEOMET Technologies, LLC.
This contract will support the Joint Program Executive Office for Chemical and Biological Defense (JPEO-CBD), the DoD's single point of focus for research, development, acquisition, fielding and life cycle management for Nuclear, Biological and Chemical assets and equipment. Versar will provide chemical, biological and other testing services across a broad range of programs to protect military and homeland security personnel against weapons of mass destruction threats.
