INDIAN HEAD, Md., 15 Sept. 2005. U.S. Department of Defense (DOD) officials are updating a global network to distribute crucial information about terrorist bombs and ways to defeat them.
Dell Federal Systems in Round Rock, Texas, won a contract Sept. 13 to update the Joint Explosive Ordnance Disposal Network (JEODNET), and for the initial rollout of four regional gateway nodes.
Awarding the contract is the U.S. Naval Sea Systems Command Indian Head Division in Indian Head, Md. The contract number is N00174-05-D-0018.
The JEODNET is a tactical, mission-critical information system that provides globally distributed information access/sharing, advanced security, and a completely web-service enabled user environment in scenarios where delivery of accurate and timely tactical mission critical knowledge is crucial to the success of a mission.
The JEODNET complies with the DOD Architecture Framework, Joint Tactical Architecture, ad the Global Information Grid 2.0, and provides the joint explosives ordnance disposal community with a viable avenue to reach its interoperability and network-centric warfare goals.
Dell engineers will do the work in Indian Head, Md., and will be finished by September 2010.
