SIMI VALLEY, Calif., 16 Jan. 2013. Hirose Electric USA Inc. in Simi Valley, Calif., is introducing the narrow 1-millimeter pitch, board-to-wire DF50 series rugged connector for high-vibration applications such as notebook PCs, industrial control units, automotive audio and navigation systems, medical devices, and liquid crystal displays (LCDs).
The RoHS-compliant DF50 connector is designed to reduce PC board mounting area, and offers a positive locking mechanism at the center of the connector that provides a clear, tactile click regardless of the number of repetitive cycles. This latch is designed to prevent uneven locking and incomplete mating.
The DF50 connector has a and reliable lance structure with a high cable pull force of 10N minimum to prevent contacts from pulling loose during installation.
Offering high-contact reliability via an mating length and a 2-point contact system, the DF50 board-to-wire connector has blade contacts attached to a thick housing wall that resists cracking or deformation.
The contacts use a nickel barrier plating to prevent solder wicking and this plating also helps to provide these connectors with its excellent soldering performance.
Offered in straight and right angle versions, the DF50 connector is available in one-row with 2 to 16 positions or as a double-row with 30-positions.
The connector has a current rating of 1A per pin, a voltage rating of 100 volts AC and DC, contact resistance of 50 mO maximum at 20 millivolts, and an operating temperature range of -35 to 85 degrees Celsius.
