Elop introduces uncooled hand-held thermal imager with target acquisition

REHOVOT, Israel, 13 March 2008. Elbit Systems Electro-Optics Ltd.(Elop) in Rehovot, Israel, is introducing the MARS uncooled, hand-held thermal imager with target acquisition capabilities.

This device employs advanced uncooled Microbolometer technology which facilitates light weight and compact size. The 2-kilogram device has battery operating time of more than eight hours, and is for applications including security and perimeter defense, infantry, scouts and special units, and target acquisition for infantry commanders.

The device incorporating an integral eyesafe laser rangefinder, digital magnetic compass and GPS, the MARS has been developed in response to the increasing demand in the U.S., Europe, and Israel, says Elop General Manager Haim Rousso.
