Kongsberg wins $37 million in orders for Protector Remote Weapon Stations

WASHINGTON, 18 June 2008. Kongsberg Defence & Aerospace AS won two contracts with a combined value of $37 million from the U.S. Army and General Dynamics Land Systems for deliveries of variants of the Protector Remote Weapon Station. The order from the U.S. Army is part of the $1.4 billion Common Remotely Operated Weapon Station agreement signed in August. Kongsberg was also awarded an order by General Dynamics Land Systems for M151 Protector RWS for Stryker vehicles to the U.S. Army.

WASHINGTON, 18 June 2008.Kongsberg Defence & Aerospace AS won two contracts with a combined value of $37 million from the U.S. Army and General Dynamics Land Systems for deliveries of variants of the Protector Remote Weapon Station (RWS).

The order from the U.S. Army for $11 million is part of the $1.4 billion Common Remotely Operated Weapon Station (CROWS II) framework agreement signed in August 2007. Kongsberg was also awarded a $26 million order by General Dynamics Land Systems for deliveries of M151 Protector RWS for Stryker vehicles to the U.S. Army. These deliveries will begin in the first half of 2009.

CROWS is a joint acquisition program for weapon stations for the U.S. Army's vehicle programs. The Protector RWS, in the CROWS II configuration, enhances troop protection and lethality by providing Soldiers with the ability to acquire and engage targets while inside the safety of a vehicle.
