L-3 delivers EP-3E with Multi-INT capabilities to U.S. Navy

NEW YORK, 17 Dec. 2008. L-3 Communications' Integrated Systems Group has delivered the first of eight EP-3E aircraft configured with new multiple-intelligence (multi-INT) capabilities to the U.S. Navy. Additional aircraft will be delivered by the end of the month.

System integration, installation, and testing on the re-configured aircraft was performed in less than three months, with each aircraft requiring tens of thousands of hours of modification, according to a company official.

SUNNYVALE, Calif., 17 Dec. 2008. The first Space-Based Infrared System (SBIRS) Highly Elliptical Orbit (HEO-1) payload and ground system, built by a Lockheed Martin team, has been certified for operations by U.S. Strategic Command.
