CARLSBAD, Calif., 13 Oct. 2008ViaSat won a $1.5 million Indefinite Delivery/Indefinite Quantity contract to manufacture KG-200 and KG-201 In-Line Media Encryptors (IMEs) in a competitive procurement from the National Security Agency (NSA).

The KG-200 and KG-201 are NSA-certified to secure data up to Top Secret/SCI, transparently encrypting and decrypting data written to and read from computer storage media. The KG-200 is designed for desktop PCs; the KG-201 for laptop PCs, and other mobile computing platforms.

"Media encryptors are a vital new area for us," says Jerry Goodwin, vice president of Network Systems Group at ViaSat. "As our customers deploy our network encryptors they need a product to secure data at the edge of the network, and there are no other products currently available to do that.

"This was an important win for us since it was the first competition for manufacturing Type 1 IMEs,"Goodwin continues.

The Inline Media Encryptors, AltaSec network encryptors, high assurance filters, and custom products powered by the ViaSat PSIAM cryptographic modules are all part of a drive to provide customers with easy-to-use, secure networking, ViaSat officials say.
