SCOTTSDALE, Ariz., 3 Oct. 2008. The U.S. Navy has awarded General Dynamics C4 Systems a $7.5 million contract to provide engineering services for military satellite command and control at the Naval Satellite Operations Center (NAVSOC) headquarters and Satellite Operations Center in Point Mugu, Calif., and its facilities in Colorado, Maine and Guam.

The contract has a total potential value of $57 million over seven years if all options are exercised. General Dynamics C4 Systems is a business unit of General Dynamics.

General Dynamics provides engineering services that support communication satellites and scientific payload missions for Navy and military missions worldwide. The first NAVSOC contract was awarded to General Dynamics in 1991.

"Managing the increasing complexity of space-borne assets is critical to the U.S. military's effectiveness and homeland security," says John Weidman, vice president of National Systems for General Dynamics C4 Systems. "This award demonstrates the Navy's continued confidence in our expertise to manage the day-to-day operations of satellites and associated ground components of critical space-based systems. We are very pleased to continue our role as NAVSOC's long-standing industry partner, supporting its critical military mission."
