FARNBOROUGH, England, 11 July 2012. ATR has increased its sales today with the sale of 12 ATR 72-600 turboprop jets and one ATR 42-600. The sales, which come to over $300 million at list price, come from four different contracts. Eight ATR 72-600 aircraft were purchased, with an option for one additional aircraft, by the Taiwan-based TransAsia Airways. These ATR 72-600s will feature a 72 seat configuration and new full glass cockpits developed by Thales. They will also include the new ATR -600 series 'Armonia' cabin. Deliveries to TransAsia AIrways will begin in 2014 and continue through 2017. Two ATR 72-600s were purchased by the Vientiane-based Lao Airlines. These ATR-72-600s will include the full-glass cockpit and Giugiaro-designed cabin interiors. The engines on these aircraft will be PW 127M engines. Delivers for this contract will occur in late 2012 through 2013.
Two more ATR 72-600s were ordered by the US-based leasing company Air Lease Corporation. Delivers for this contract will occur in July and September of 2013.
One twin-turboprop ATR 42-600 regional airliner was purchased by Nordic Aviation Capital, a Danish leasing company. Nordic Aviation Capital has already ordered 12 ATR 72-600s and ATR 72-500s.
Almost 20% of all ATR sales within the past few years have come from leasing companies. There are currently 160 ATR aircraft that are owned by leasing companies around the world.
