LIVERPOOL, N.Y., 26 Nov. 2006. Engineers at the Lockheed Martin Maritime Systems and Sensors unit in Liverpool, N.Y., are providing the U.S. Navy with towed bodies and interface hardware for the TB-34 towed-array submarine sonar system.
Lockheed Martin Maritime Systems will do the work under terms of a $9.1 million contract awarded Nov. 22 from Naval Sea Systems Command in Washington. The contract number is N00024-07-C-6205.
The TB-34 was developed to provide improved anti-submarine warfare and contact-avoidance capability for submarines operating in cluttered littoral environments. Work will be in Liverpool, N.Y., and will be finished by December 2009.
