XENIA, Ohio, 16 Dec. 2006. Officials of simulator designer CAE in Montreal needed liquid crystal on silicon (LCoS) projectors for their simulation systems. They found their solution from Barco-Xenia in Xenia, Ohio.
CAE has chosen Barco-Xenia (formerly Electronic Image Systems, Inc.) to provide the Barco SIM 7 series for simulation applications. The projectors enable CAE to offer several configurations on its simulators.
CAE officials say they chose Barco after an extensive review of technology, engineering, manufacturing, and customer service capabilities. Barco has had a long-standing relationship with CAE.
"Our customers are continuously looking for more immersive visual cueing and lower operational costs," says Adolfo Klassen, CAE's chief technology officer. "The Barco SIM 7 series is an important component in CAE's new generation visual solution offering."
The Barco SIM 7 series delivers sharp, no-smear images for high-speed motion applications such as military flight training and mission rehearsal. LCoS is Barco's technology of choice for simulation applications.
"Today's visualization needs for flight simulation training are very demanding and require database images to be projected at the highest visual fidelity with no latency or artifacts," says Al Herman, Vice President and General Manager for Barco's Simulation business. "The system's fast LCoS engine is optimized for multi-channel visualization and reduces smearing to CRT levels."
