FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla., 21 April 2006. Sense Holdings Inc., maker of biometric and explosive detection security technologies for government and commercial security markets, has released photographs of its newly announced first-generation handheld explosive detection device.

Able to detect the explosives TNT and PETN, it is the first in an upcoming line of handheld explosive detection devices based on the company's proprietary Micro Electro-Mechanical Systems (MEMS) technology.

Sense is developing its line of advanced detection products under a research and development partnership with the Oak Ridge National Laboratory in Oak Ridge, Tenn., which is operated by the US Department of Energy (DOE). Sense is the sole commercialization partner for security applications of Oak Ridge's MEMS-based technologies and products.

When introduced commercially, the portable device's cutting-edge technology is intended to provide airports, homeland security agencies, corporate America, and other customers.

The photos of the current demonstration device, while not in final commercial form, indicate the general size of the unit, which is approximately 5 inches in length.

Sense will now market the prototype device to such target customers as federal facilities and military bases, ports, and international border agencies, and private stadiums and arenas.

Sense develops advanced proprietary solutions to address worldwide needs in Homeland Security and counterterrorism.
