PORT TOWNSEND, Wash., 4 Jan. 2010. Intellicheck Mobilisa, Inc. (NYSE Amex:IDN), received U.S. Air Force-wide Authority to Operate (ATO) its Defense ID access control system at Air Force bases across the country. This government designation follows ATOs the company has received from the Army, Navy. and Marine Corps.
The Air Force has recognized Defense ID as a solution for anti-terrorism, force protection, and access control, Intellicheck Mobilisa officials say. Intellicheck Mobilisa's system screens individuals prior to arriving at a base, runs a "bad guy" check against most wanted lists, and identifies an individual as authorized to enter a base, company officials say.
DefenseID also has homeland security applications in airport security screening, Intellicheck Mobilisa officials say. The device is capable of scanning driver licenses against "watch" databases. Defense ID's rugged handheld, mobile devices enables security personnel to read barcodes, magnetic stripes, RFID, and OCR codes printed on current forms of ID cards.
By scanning these ID cards and comparing the information to more than 100 databases, Defense ID can immediately determine if the ID is fake; determine if the individual bearing the ID has outstanding wants and warrants; and determine if the individual is on an authorized roster of previously cleared personnel.
Defense ID also has capabilities for photo capture and incident recording, as well as a manual search option.
While Defense ID has been in use at several Air Force bases across the country, including Andrews Air Force Base and the Air Force Academy, the award of this system-wide certification now allows for procurement by all US Air Force bases nationwide.
