IRVINE, Calif., 2 March 2007. Govplace has been awarded a contract for information technology products and solutions as part of the U.S. Department of Homeland Security's (DHS) newly formed FirstSource program.

Govplace, located in Irvine, Calif., specializes in providing IT products and solutions to government agencies.

The DHS created the FirstSource program to consolidate IT procurement across the Department's disperse agencies.

"These contract arrangements will help us speed up the delivery of IT commodities and ensure that we have a flexible and cost-effective process moving forward," says Scott Charbo, DHS chief information officer. "It will also help further the integration of our information technology systems across the department, which is one of our most important goals."

The FirstSource contract is estimated to include up to $3 billion of IT products and solutions over a possible five-year period.
