WALPOLE, Mass., Mass., 30 Aug. 2007. United Electronic Industries (UEI) in Walpole, Mass., is offering speed enhancements to the company's UEIPAC series of programmable automation controllers (PACs).

The maximum sample rate and the PAC's ability to process PID loops is increasing by greater than a factor of eight, company officials say. The UEIPAC allows analog input sample rates as fast as 576 kilosamples per second and as many as eight simultaneous PID loops at faster than 20 kHz.

The UEIPAC Cube is a self-contained controller and includes an embedded computer running standard Linux OS, two Ethernet ports, a serial port, an SD Card interface, an inter-PAC sync interface and either three or six slots for I/O boards.

The Cubes have been tested in temperature ranges from -40 to 85 degrees Celsius at 5g vibration, 50g shock, and at altitudes as high as 70,000 feet. The Cubes have flown in F-16, F-18, 747, and Predator aircraft, and have passed a radiation test and are set for use in the International Space Station.
