NASHUA, N.H. - Military + Aerospace Electronics cordially invites you to a free webinar on Tuesday, 10 June, which will explore the role of hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) verification in aerospace system development. The event will feature Erik Goethert of United Electronic Industries (UEI), who will examine how HIL testing can help engineers identify potential system issues early in the development cycle, reduce integration risks, and improve overall system reliability.
The webinar will cover key stages of the verification process. Goethert will discuss how these stages fit within the broader V-model of system development and validation - a framework commonly used in aerospace and defense programs.
Real-world use cases will illustrate how HIL techniques are applied, such as in the replication of cockpit systems to verify avionics communication or in the integration of propulsion systems with onboard electronics in experimental aircraft.
Participants will also be introduced to advanced verification strategies such as System-Integration-Lab (SIL) methodologies and VISTAS (Virtual Interoperable Simulation for Testing Aircraft Systems), which support testing in virtual or hybrid environments.
Topics to be discussed include:
- The application of the V-model in aerospace system validation and verification.
- Techniques for building comprehensive HIL and SIL frameworks.
- Step-by-step planning for a structured and effective verification process.
Erik Goethert is a veteran of aerospace and industrial systems development, with over 25 years of experience. At UEI, he focuses on helping engineers design systems that are rugged, reliable, and capable of real-time data collection and processing. Goethert holds an engineering degree from Cornell University.
