Phlux launches 200 µm APD receiver module for lidar and defense applications
SHEFFIELD, U.K. - Phlux Technology in Sheffield, U.K., has announced beta sample availability of its Apex 200 µm receiver module, PX02200-TO, an infrared avalanche photodiode (APD)-based receiver designed for low-light detection applications.
The Apex receiver module combines Phlux's Noiseless InGaAs Aura APD detector technology with a low-noise optimized preamplifier circuit in an industry-standard TO-8, 12-pin header package. The integrated receiver is designed to simplify system design for applications requiring high sensitivity and high-speed signal acquisition.
Operating across the 900 to 1700 nm wavelength range and optimized for 1550 nm detection, the Apex receiver family is intended for applications including laser range finding, lidar, defense and security systems, distributed temperature sensing, gas sensing, analytical instrumentation, and other low-light detection applications.
The Apex 200 µm receiver module provides a noise equivalent power (NEP) of 35 fW/√Hz while supporting bandwidths up to 100 MHz. The module also includes an integrated temperature-sensing diode to support temperature compensation of the APD high-voltage supply and maintain consistent responsivity across changing environmental conditions.
The PX02200-TO receiver module provides a responsivity of 600 kV/W at 1550 nm and an output voltage swing of 2.4 V under unloaded conditions with a 150 ns pulse. The module integrates the APD and optimized preamplifier circuitry to reduce system complexity while maintaining low temperature coefficient performance for improved environmental stability.
Phlux's Noiseless InGaAs APD technology incorporates an antimony alloy into the compound semiconductor manufacturing process. The resulting devices provide internal gain exceeding 120, enabling detection of low-level optical signals above the noise floor.
