IST introduces EDR-5 high-speed recorder for aerospace shock and vibration testing
OKIMOS, Mich. - Instrumented Sensor Technology (IST) introduced the EDR-5 Series, a battery-powered data recorder that captures shock, vibration, and other dynamic events during aerospace testing and field operations.
The EDR-5 can record transportation, ground handling, flight, launch, landing, and other transient dynamic environments using internal accelerometers or externally connected sensors. Engineers can deploy the recorder with aerospace hardware to characterize actual field environments and subsequently use the recorded data to help reproduce those conditions during laboratory shock and vibration testing.
The recorder supports up to six simultaneous high-speed external channels, with sampling rates of up to 50,000 samples per second per channel and 16-bit acquisition. Programmable anti-alias filtering and IEPE sensor excitation enable direct connection to industry-standard accelerometers and other compatible sensors.
Programmable triggering with pre- and post-trigger recording enables capture of transient events, including high-g shock and pyroshock.
The EDR-5 is housed in an IP67-rated aluminum enclosure and provides 30 to more than 90 days of battery operation, depending on configuration and operating conditions.
IST's DynaMax Suite software provides analysis capabilities, including time-history, fast Fourier transform (FFT), power spectral density (PSD), and shock response spectrum (SRS) analysis, to evaluate recorded dynamic events and compare field and laboratory measurements.
