KITCHENER, Ontario - Pixus Technologies has introduced the SHM300-20 3U OpenVPX chassis manager, a slot-pluggable version of its SHM300 chassis-management product line for SOSA-aligned embedded computing systems.

The SHM300-20 provides chassis-management functionality in a 3U slot-pluggable form factor. Pixus previously offered the SHM300-00, a mezzanine-based version that mounts beneath the backplane and does not consume an OpenVPX slot. The company says the new version is intended for customers with an available slot or who prefer the 3U form factor.

Both versions use the same U.S.-based software and firmware. The SHM300 chassis-manager family is designed for Tier 3 system management and is compliant with the VITA 46.11 system-management standard. The products are also aligned with the Sensor Open Systems Architecture (SOSA) Technical Standard and Hardware Management Card (HMC) specifications, Pixus says.

The SHM300-20 provides chassis-management capabilities for OpenVPX systems while allowing system designers to use a conventional slot-pluggable module rather than the underside-of-backplane mezzanine configuration of the SHM300-00. Pixus says it has deployed various versions of the SHM300 in U.S. defense programs.
