GORE Power Feeder Cables for Aerospace & Defense

Improve performance, durability and longevity of Li-ion and EFB batteries Meeting the Needs and Requirements of AAM and UAM Companies Our cables offer the best combination of reliable electrical performance, durability, high flexibility and lower spring-back force than most alternatives. GORE® Powder Feeder Cables deliver high-voltage performance, dependable partial discharge (PD) behavior and long-term EWIS reliability over the aircraft’s lifespan. They’re abrasion and cut-through resistant over a wide temperature range and make routing easier because of greater flexibility and lower spring-back. Featured Resources GORE Power Feeder Cables include exceptional features over most alternatives, like: low-permittivity, higher PDIV (partial discharge inception voltage) material abrasion- and cut-through resistant layers thermally stable and chemically inert material hydrophobic, non-hydrolyzing material Our innovative cables offer many benefits that protect against damaging operational, maintenance and environmental factors, like: reliable performance proven at 1000 Vrms up to 260°C at 25 kft (7.6 km) and 1850 Vrms up to 260°C at sea level durable protection against abrasion, cut-through and chafing over wide temperatures easier, more flexible routing with 3xOD MBR and easy stripping with standard tools prevents degradation over time in challenging environmental conditions delivers proven stable performance through aging optimized cable design for size, weight and power (SWaP) needs greater EWIS reliability, increased aircraft availability, improved safety and reduced costs Applications Image Military Aircraft Gore’s power feeder cables deliver high-voltage performance for long-term EWIS (electrical wire interconnection systems) reliability in current rotary-wing platforms and Future Vertical Lift (FVL) programs , like future long range assault aircraft (FLRAA). Image Commercial & Passenger Aircraft Our cables ensure safety in high-voltage commercial and passenger aircraft systems. They’re a reliable choice for vertical take-off and landing (VTOL) and all-electric VTOL aircraft, like air taxis and cargo transporters. Material Comparison Stable Electrical Performance Along with higher system voltages, the threat of PD increases with altitude, potentially causing cable insulation degradation. So we evaluated the PD performance of our cables at high voltage and temperature across various altitudes. Results showed that GORE Power Feeder Cables maintained stable high-voltage performance up to 260°C at reduced pressure simulating higher altitudes. Unlike competitive insulation materials, our stable, low-permittivity insulation minimizes degradation under challenging environmental conditions, enabling higher PDIV and extending service life. Image Higher Abrasion Resistance Test results showed that our cables provided better mechanical protection by withstanding constant abrasion over 1 million cycles. And, we stopped the test on our cables long before reaching the failure point. But, competitive insulation materials failed to provide adequate protection, breaching the insulation and exposing the conductor. So electrical performance, like PDIV, is compromised long before reaching the failure point of the test. Image Greater Routing Flexibility Installation in tight spaces is complicated when routing stiff cables with larger bend radii. On the other hand, cables with much less stiffness allow sagging in between supports, leading to abrasion and wear. Balancing these insulation properties is key to ensuring reliable installation, durable protection and long-term performance. When we compared our cables to competitive insulation materials, our insulation technology had a lower bending force, making them easier to route and install in constrained areas.
