Motion-control device has integrated position and temperature sensors, and linear optical quadrature encoder protected inside the actuator housing.

VAN NUYS, Calif. – Moticont in Van Nuys, Calif., is introducing the SDLM-051-070-01-01 compact direct-drive linear actuator for motion control in antenna positioning, door and valve actuators, semiconductor handling, medical devices, sorting and packaging, agricultural equipment, shaking, and procedure tables and instruments.

The linear actuator has integrated position and temperature sensors, and has a linear optical quadrature encoder that is protected inside the actuator housing and connects to the shaft for accuracy. Highest throughputs come when operating at peak efficiency by monitoring the data from the internal temperature sensor.

This direct-drive linear actuator, also referred to as an electric cylinder, is two inches in diameter and the compact housing length is 2.75 inches. The total length including the shaft is four inches. The SDLM-051-070-01-01 has a stroke length of 0.5 inches, a continuous-force rating of 7.6 pounds, and peak force of 24.1 pounds.

This non-commutated direct drive servo actuator features quiet long life, plain linear bearings, an integrated internal 1.25-micron-resolution quadrature optical encoder with differential outputs, and a non-rotating shaft.

Direct coupling of the load or stage to the low-inertia non-rotating shaft eliminates backlash and allows for high acceleration and deceleration.

Each end of the actuator housing has two 10-32 UNF-2B threaded mounting holes on a 1-inch bolt circle and the 0.25-inch shaft has a 6-32 UNC-2B threaded hole on each end for easy integration into new and existing applications.

The SDLM-051-070-01-01 direct-drive linear actuator also is available with a matching servo controller. For more information contact Moticont online at www.moticont.com.
