International Rectifier improves rad-hard MOSFETs

Experts at International Rectifier in El Segundo, Calif., are offering a new 28-pin leadless ceramic chip carrier package that is a hermetically sealed surface-mount replacement for the 14-pin side-brace package for radiation-hardened metal oxide semiconductor field effect transistors. Company officials say the package is light and small, and offers a low junction-to-case thermal resistance. The surface-mount version offers a higher current capability than side-braze packages and can be used in full-bridge circuits for motor drive, power supply applications and linear regulators.
