WINCHESTER, Ohio, 23 Dec. 2013. Koford Engineering LLC has introduced a new line of ultrahigh speed 1.6-inch slotless brushless motor for power generators used with jet engines and gas turbines, as well as for high speed blowers, vacuum pumps, and beam choppers.

These rugged motor and generators use a new ultra low loss magnetic design to provide cool operation even at very high speeds and power. Ceramic hybrid bearings with special machined retainers are used for long life, low drag, and electrical isolation between motor shaft and housing.

They can be used with a sensorless drive as a motor or with a three phase bridge as a generator. Rated output is up to 366 Watts without heat sinking and 670 Watts with heat sink.

Available no load speeds range from 57,936 to 73,008 with voltages from 24 to 48 volts. The slotless configuration in combination with the magnetic design provides efficiencies up to 94 percent.

Rugged construction uses class 220 polyimide insulation. Corrosion resistant materials such as hardened 440C stainless shaft and nickel iron laminations are used in the motor construction and the motors are low outgassing. Vacuum grade versions are offered.
