Encapsulated compact through-hole 2-Watt DC-DC converters introduced by Murata

MANSFIELD, Mass., 8 Feb. 2013. Murata Power Solutions in Mansfield, Mass., is introducing the MEJ2 series of encapsulated compact through-hole 2 Watt DC-DC converters that provide a pin-compatible upgrade path from Murata’s NMJ, MEV1 and NMV series.

MANSFIELD, Mass., 8 Feb. 2013. Murata Power Solutions in Mansfield, Mass., is introducing the MEJ2 series of encapsulated compact through-hole 2 Watt DC-DC converters that provide a pin-compatible upgrade path from Murata’s NMJ, MEV1 and NMV series.

The MEJ2 2-Watt power electronics devices are available with single or dual outputs covering the nominal voltages of 3.3, 5, 9, 12 or 15 volts DC. Input voltage variants accommodate 3.3, 5, 12 or 15 volts DC.

In a compact SIP format, the MEJ2 series has about twice the power density of its predecessor, the NMJ series, while offering safety agency recognition according to UL60950 for basic/supplementary insulation for voltages up to 200 Vrms.

Recognition to the medical standard IEC 60601 (3rd Ed) is pending and provides for one measure of operator protection (MOOP) to 200 Vrms.

With guaranteed internal physical spacings, and a factory test voltage of 5.2 kilovolts, the MEJ2 series can be used with confidence in high noise environments where conventional high isolation parts with 3-kilovolt test ratings but only functional isolation and no guaranteed spacings may not be adequate.

The series maintains high levels of efficiency down to typical and light loads saving power, reducing temperature rise and increasing product reliability.
