TORRANCE, Calif., 4 Aug. 2011. Martek Power in Torrance, Calif., is introducing the Powertron VER series of low-cost, medium power, single-output DC-DC converters for railway and other harsh-environment applications that must operate in the presence of shock, vibration, temperature extremes, water, fog, and corrosive agents. The power electronics devices have two versions -- standard and enhanced -- designed to comply with rail specifications for power protection and electro-magnetic compatibility (EMC).The enhanced version of the rugged power supply is for applications that must comply with class S2 supply interruptions that require a 10-millisecond hold-up time. Two models cater all nominal vehicle battery voltages, and the enhanced version adds active inrush current limiting and "good" output indication.
The standard-version VER series DC-DC converters measure 110 by 70 by 40 millimeters. The low voltage input version covers 24 and 36 volts, and the high-voltage version covers 72, 96, and 110 volts. Output voltages can be specified from 12 to 48 volts DC and maximum output power is 100 Watts.
All models operate in temperatures from -40 to 70 degrees Celsius, and comply with EN50155 and EN50121.3.2 rail standards. A ventilated steel cover is optional to protect the device to IP20.
