FREMONT, Calif., 16 Nov. 2011. dB Control, a manufacturer of high-power microwave amplifiers, radar/electronic countermeasure (ECM) transmitters, and power supplies, won a five-year contract valued at more than $50 million to design and manufacture traveling wave tube (TWT-)based, high-power transmitters for a military airborne system. dB Control staff will manufacture the transmitter hardware at the company’s secure, 40,000 square-foot facility in Fremont, Calif., as well as provide ongoing engineering, technical, and logistical support services and data.
An executive at dB Control, unable to name the customer, reveals that this award win marks the company’s largest single contract since its founding in 1990.
"In military airborne, mission-critical systems, reliable transmitters are essential for detecting potential threats quickly and accurately. In many situations, this can be a matter of life or death for military personnel," explains dB Control CEO Joe Hajduk. "The reliability of our products is one of the primary reasons we were awarded this contract.”
