PARIS, 21 June 2011.Aircraft electronics designers at ECE, a Zodiac Aerospace company in Paris needed power control and power conditioning components for the electrical power distribution system on the Airbus A350XWB passenger jetliner. They found their solution from Crane Aerospace & Electronics Power Solutions in Fort Walton Beach, Fla. ECE selected Crane to supply the Crane Transformer Rectifier Units (TRUs) on the Electrical Power Distribution Systems (EPDS) on the Airbus A350XWB long-range widebody jets. The electrical power distribution system on the Airbus A350XWB has seven TRUs, which control and monitor the electrical DC power distribution to the loads on the aircraft. Crane made the announcement Monday at the Paris Air Show in Le Bourget, France. The Crane Transformer Rectifier Units provide 230-to-28-volts DC conversion and fault protection, as well as 115-to-28-volts DC conversion and fault protection within the A350XWB aircraft.
The Transformer Rectifier power electronics devices are high reliability, low weight, and high power quality, says Ed Fuhr, vice president of the Crane Aerospace & Electronics Power Solutions segment.
